Lab Complete Project from Senegal, Africa

The collage below displays a selection of specimens recently identified and photographed by MESL staff in samples processed as part of an oil and gas project in Senegal, West Africa. Our lab team processed a total of 72 benthic samples from depths ranging from 70-1,400m and discovered a vast range of stunning and fascinating macrofauna. Some of the particularly interesting specimens recorded within the project included the gastropod species Euspira grossularia (middle, left) Chicoreus varius (centre)  as well as the alien-like prawn belonging to the family Luciferidae (middle, right).
